The Third OTOP City Event
From December 17-25, 2005, at IMPACT Muang Thong Thani
The Organizing Committee meeting on the 3rd OTOP City Event, chaired by Mr. Somchai Sunthornwat, Deputy Interior Minister, was organized on November 2, 2005, at the Community Development Department, Interior Minister to update the progress on the event organization.
With the uniqueness of Thai art and culture harmoniously blended with “Thainess” – or the Thai way of life, OTOP products reflect marvelous beauty and originality, and show great potential to the world market. Based on the mentioned idea, the meeting announced the theme of the 3rd OTOP City Event -- “The Miracle of Thai Wisdom…OTOP to the World”.
The 3rd OTOP City Event is scheduled for December 17 to 25, 2005, at IMPACT Muang Thong Thani, Hall 1-8 and Challenger 1-3. Covering about 120,000 sq. m. space, the nine-day event will start from 9 AM to 10 PM. The opening ceremony will be organized on December 17, 2005 at 2 PM at Challenger Building.
The press conference for the 3rd OTOP City Event will be held on December 7, 2005 at 10 AM, at Government House’s Santi Maitri Building. Invited to head the press conference are the Prime Minister and Mr. Somkid Chutusipitak, Commerce Minister and Chairman of the One Tambon One Product Board. Also, Mr. Somchai Sunthornwat, Deputy Interior Minister and Director of the Organizing Committee on the 3rd OTOP City Event, together with concerned parties will be joining the press conference.
The following 6 main activities are to be organized at the 3rd OTOP City Event.
First Activity: OTOP offers B2C distribution.
1. Product Distribution: The products will be displayed in pavilions assigned to each of the 4 regions and Bangkok. 5,000 items ranging from OTOP 3-star products to OTOP are expected to be on show. The reality showcase entitled “Living with OTOP” will be included such as bedrooms, sitting rooms, kitchens and bathrooms.
2. Special Zone
·ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ OTOP from Yala, Narathiwat, and Pattani: Distribute products from the 3 southern provinces. (at the southern products hall)
·ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ OTOP Tsunami: Distribute products from the Tsunami-hit areas. (at the southern products hall)
·ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ OTOP Beauty Zone: Include jewelry, cosmetics, and beauty care products
·ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ OTOP from the disabled people: Distribute products made by the disabled people.
Second Activity: OTOP Food Fair
-ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ Distribute local food from the 4 regions at about 200 booths which will be uniquely decorated according to their regions.
-ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ Exhibition on the uniqueness of each region’s cuisine and “World’s Kitchen” Program
-ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ Introduce the book named “OTOP Chuan Chim”
-ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ Grant “OTOP Chuan Chim” brand to selected products
Third Activity: OTOP to the World
1. 516 booths displaying OTOP export premiums.
2. Neighboring Countries’ OTOP Zone: Display products from Thailand’s neighboring countries under the theme “Regionalize OTOP”.
ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ - Booths from Cambodia, Laos, Burma, and Vietnam
ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ - Shows from each of the neighboring countries under the theme “Spectacular Khong River Region” or “Spectacular ASEAN”.
ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ - Organize culture promotion activities together
ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ - Organize the national day activities for each of the neighboring countries
ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ - Invite youths from the 4 countries to attend the event
3. “OTOP to the World” Exhibition
4. Trendy OTOP 2006
ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ - Display and distribute products of which the manufacturers attended the “OTOP to the World” Design Project and products which won the OTOP Design Contest and are designed in accordance with the lifestyles of the major markets.
5. Organize space for B2B negotiation
6. Broadcast live the trading in the event to Japan via Jupiter Shop Channel
Fourth Activity: Cultural Root of OTOP
Product: Display cultural roots of OTOP in each region
People: Display the biography and achievements of famous artists in each region
Place: Make models depicting the OTOP Village legend of each region
Art Market: Distribute artworks made by independent artists
Disabled Artist: Distribute artworks made by disabled artists
Live Show: Each region presents its art and cultural show
Fifth Activity: Royal Heritage – the activity organized in honor of His Majesty the King’s 60th anniversary of his coronation
- Theme: His Majesty the King’s Craftsmanship Talent
- Present the self-sufficiency economy and the models of His Majesty the King’s projects
Sixth Activity: OTOP Special Activities
1. Spa & Massage: Provide Thai massage service and natural-styled spa service
