Background |
Traditional Thai masks were first made during the reigns of King Rama I or King Rama II. The golden age of the Thai masks was in the reign of King Rama VI. Mom Luang Phansawat Suksawat was taught about making traditional Thai masks by his father Mom Ratchawong Charunsawat Phansawat. In 2000, Mom Luang Phansawat imparted his knowledge on making the traditional Thai masks to the students in Kanchanabhisek School. His masks were selected to be souvenirs for foreign country leaders attending APEC CEO 2003. |
Manufacturing
Procedures |
1) Make a mask mold from clay. 2) Paste glue-mixed mulberry paper on the mold. Wait until the paper is dry. Get the paper out of the mold. Now, the paper is in the same shape as the mask mold. 3) Decorate the face of the mask.4) Attach gold leaves and ruby on the mask. 5) Paint the mask. |
